Technology Need Assessment

The role of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) is crucial in the development of Indian economy. However, MSMEs are not operating at their maximum potential due to technological obsolescence. They are also facing challenges w.r.t. improvement in products & processes, development of new products & processes, marketing, pollution control, availability of skilled workforce etc. Further, MSMEs are not able to articulate their needs as they neither have in-house R&D capabilities nor access to external experts.

In the fast-changing environment, MSMEs must consistently improve and innovate with the support of technology in order to be competitive both locally and globally. PSCST supports MSMEs by carrying out technology need assessment of various industrial clusters and encourage them in adopting technological innovations to enhance their operations, resulting in increased productivity and competitiveness.

PSCST has also signed MoUs with Industrial associations for identifying their technological gaps and addressing the same. The Council has also signed MoUs with R&D institutions and is trying to create a unique interface model to link a specific industrial cluster with the institutions having relevant domain expertise in the vicinity.
