Innovate Punjab Summit 2019-Brief Statement of objective

Research and Development plays a critical role in the innovation process. It’s essentially an investment in technology and future capabilities which is transformed into new products, processes, and services. Govt. of Punjab has launched ‘Mission Innovate Punjab’ to promote the state as a hub of research and innovation and to develop a robust ecosystem which will enhance competitiveness, boost growth and create jobs. As an initial step to build a conducive environment for active involvement and networking of academic institutions, young innovators & industry, an Innovation Summit is planned. This will help in realizing the objectives of the state as envisaged under the ‘Mission Innovate Punjab’.

Innovate Punjab Summit 2019, a partnership between Government of Punjab and Punjab Chamber of Commerce and Industries (PCCI),  will seek to bring together leaders and thinkers representing businesses, high technology researchers, academia and governments, from across the globe to analyze the opportunities and challenges, presented by technology transformation and the frameworks needed for global scale-up. The Summit will also focus on new directions in technology policy such as data protection, building an innovation ecosystem, as well as fields like digital finance, e-mobility, robotics, smart cities, and future of public deliveries system, where massive technological transformation is likely to happen in the coming years.

The objectives of the summit are as under:

Capture global trends in technology management and strategy to become a leader in sustainable technologies by scouting, spawning and sustaining grassroots innovations in tune with ‘Make in India’ and ‘Digital India’.

To promote Punjab as the Global destination for Innovations & Research and to integrate progressive ideas for policy reforms and regulatory environment.

Evolving the state into an innovative society by nurturing the mindsets of the youth by providing them an environment to translate knowledge into innovations and entrepreneurship.

Create a mechanism for mentoring by successful entrepreneurs to accelerate young enterprises in the State.

Fostering International cooperation & collaboration in Science &Technology.

Provide platform for entrepreneurs, financier, mentors and other stakeholders from Punjab and across India to engage and collaborate for research & development as per state needs.

Bridging the technological gap between inventor & industry and manufacturers & academia.

Build capacities for market assessment and rapid commercialization of research and create avenues for industry-academia-government partnerships.

Facilitation of technology seekers and technology owners and creation of database of innovative products, technologies, and intellectual properties within the state.

Leveraging Punjab’s Socio-Economic landscape and using S&T interventions for rural & weaker sections and to meet the socio-economic and environmental needs of the society.
