With Green Reforms In Focus, Film Fest Begins At PU Today

Panjab University (PU) will be hosting three-day ‘Environmental Film Festival & Forum on LiFE’ from Wednesday to discuss biodiversity conservation, climate change, and the pivotal role of environmental education. Organised by Punjab State Council for Science & Technology under its environmental education programme, in collaboration with Centre for Media Studies and PU, the event will screen select feature films and documentaries offering an engaging narrative on rural India’s green challenges, climate change’s realities, human resilience and agricultural distress. The festival will also feature a free Mojo workshop by film-maker Gautam Pandey and a painting competition. Among the guests will be Jatinder Kaur Arora, Renu Vig, and Kulbir Singh Bath. PU VC Renu Vig said, “The film festival stands as a pivotal platform, creating awareness and igniting action for sustainable environmental practices. It symbolises our commitment to foster a community-driven approach towards safeguarding our planet for future generations.” Arora, executive director of Punjab State Council for Science & Technology, said, “The initiative embodies our commitment towards environmental education and sustainability.” The festival is open to the public. Vasanti Rao, DG, Centre For Media Studies, New Delhi, said, “We’re thrilled to bring this festival to Chandigarh, alongside our esteemed partners. We look forward to welcoming everyone to this impactful event.”

The film festival also resonates with the ethos of PU-IIT Ropar Regional Accelerator for Holistic Innovations (PI-RAHI), showcasing the shared commitment towards environmental awareness and sustainable practices within the regional S&T cluster.
